All – Time Fudgiest Brownies

Brownies have to be one of the most loved baked good.

I would never argue with that. Ever. I’m just here to make the brownies.

Today I’m sharing a piece of brownie and fudge heaven. I firmly believe there are two kinds of brownies. There’s the chewy, cakey brownie and there’s the fudge brownie! Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I like different brownies depending on my mood!

There are many different ways of achieving your desired brownie. I like to break it down in the most basic way possible for myself, because ‘brownie science’ can be quite intricate.

Thick batters = cakey brownies

Thin batters = fudgy brownies

As you can see in the first image, I could have stopped there! However, I wanted these brownies to have a fudge kick. (The ‘kick’ is explained in the recipe below) I opted to add a special liquid ingredient to make the batter very thin, in fact, it can get drippy if you’re being clumsy like I always am! 

I added some chocolate swirls too, they’re my new favourite thing right now!

All Time - Fudgiest Brownies

Here's a recipe for the fudgiest brownies ever!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 150 g butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup instant coffee hot
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 C

  2. Line some brownie trays with greaseproof paper

  3. Combine flour, cocoa powder and baking powder

  4. Mix together, in a separate bowl, the eggs, sugar and vanilla extract

  5. Add softened or melted butter to the wet ingredients 

  6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry

  7. Add the coffee to the ingredients. From here, the batter gets very thin. Don't worry this is all part of the fudgy goodness.

  8. Pour mixture into the lined trays. 

  9. Allow them to bake in the oven for 20 minutes. If a skewer comes out clean, your brownies are all done!

  10. Allow to cool and cut into squares
